PPG Industries said it named Tim Knavish as the chair of the board in addition to his current role as chief executive.
The supplier of paints, coating and specialty materials said Knavish, who currently is also the company’s president, would take his new responsibilities on Oct. 1.
Knavish would succeed Michael McGarry, who is retiring as executive chairman, also effective on Oct. 1.
“The board of directors agreed that appointing Tim as chair and CEO enhances the alignment between PPG management and the Board in implementing PPG’s enterprise growth strategy,” said Hugh Grant, director of the company.
